Our Story
We are sisters who caught the renovation-bug early in life. Growing up in Florida, in a home that had no central heat or air; going for a drive in the family car was a welcome respite from the heat. So, almost every Sunday afternoon of our childhood was spent driving around in the family car, looking at houses. Our parents would search for homes, looking for that hidden gem. Almost every week they would find an interesting home and the whole family would walk over the property, inspecting, evaluating, and imagining what it could be. Our mother would always want to add a screened porch. Dad always wanted a fireplace. And the three kids had to have a big, tire-swing-worthy tree in the back yard. Those Sunday afternoons began something in our hearts and minds that has evolved into Southern Sisters.
Decades have passed since those days and during that time came the many blessings and losses of life; each event molding and shaping us into the people we are today.
We have both been blessed with wonderful husbands and precious children. Cindy is a grandmother and Brenda is taking notes from her on how to spoil her future grands! Our husbands, Gino and Tim, are our partners in every sense of the word. They have embraced our vision and in fact, have helped to mold the vision for Southern Sisters. They support, encourage and get their hands dirty too. It’s as if God had designed this venture with our names on it, which indeed we believe He has. We’ve done all kinds of work over the years, but, apart from raising our children, this is the most fulfilling job either of us has ever had. Working together, restoring old beauties, and contributing to our community is a dream-come-true for both of us.
In case you’re wondering if our parents found that hidden gem…Yes they did! Complete with the big tree for our tire swing in the back yard! They had to add the screened porch and the fireplace. But, no worries there, adding a few things here and there is just part of making a house a home. And that’s what Southern Sisters is all about.
